I think there *is* another flash on the bottom, lol... Look behind his arm and you can barely see it

Five more and he would've had a nice ring-like light.
Thats a very interesting set-up.. from looking at the results it seems to work... however it has to be a pain to move around with that thing
It reminds me this story :

Eh? I thought it was like a fan. Weird. I guess he forgot to KISS.
I am curious though as to what the final output looks like.
I love stobist...I have learned so much....I am in the process of getting a few of the stobist gear items so that I can practice so of the awesome ligting stuff. What i would like are simple beginning lighting diagrams. All the ones out there are of complicated set ups. I want simple and basic. Is this a wierd request? Thanks for the site...it is awesome. Jen
Exactly what I want for high school night football. All I have to do is bend the bracket. No It is not for size/strength challenged people. I be 6-4 and 220 so we can handle it all night. Others may have a problem. ADVANTAGE -- recycle time is FAST. SIMPLE -- and still TTL with range. No remotes needed. That makes it KISS.
Kyle, I believe you are right. I also happened to noticed what looks like another flash on the bottom.
I say someone should try it! Just make it a DIY mini project. I personally don't have enough strobes...
I'm very curious about the light speckles in the eyes this setup would give.
E.
Interesting to laugh at that flash arrangement when most people would laugh at your "simple" setups.
Don't draw the line of weird anywhere lest it be drawn by others with YOU on the weird side!!
Special lights for special needs makes sense to me, just like the people who buy $5000 lenses when they need them. Anyway, the capcha ain't working so you'll never see this...ah, cookies have to be on for www.blogger.com as well as blogger.com to see the image. Silly.
I now feel like the world's biggest nerd; not only was the girl the first thing I looked at, but I recognized the costume and its exact source in an instant.
Dang, 4 580s, what's that run him?
I know this is Strobist but really, think a studio setup would've been more worthwhile for the cash.
isn't that gary fong????
even he doesn't use his products
Before you laugh too hard, that is a pretty good setup. He probably gets soft, even light like a softbox on a stand or a huge ringlight, but unlike a softbox this is pretty portable and with no setup time at all. At an event where tripods and stands are a no-no this could be great.
I just wonder if he actually needs the middle flash. He'll have downward light from ceiling lights or the sky almost everywhere he goes; he should be able to skip that one, balance the bottom light to even out the shadows it causes and have the side lights preset as a proportion of the bottom light.
