Jan. 19th, 2008 San Francisco Seminar Registration Opens Saturday
Registration for the Jan. 19th, 2008 San Francisco area small-flash lighting workshop will open Saturday morning, Dec. 22nd, at 8:00 a.m. Pacific time. Sorry to bump it up into the holidays, but there were details that had to be nailed down before I could open it up.Broad strokes, it is basically the same as the other seminars. You can get a good idea of what to expect form the London Seminar sign-up page from earlier this year.
The price is $159.00, payable via credit card through PayPal.
We'll actually be a little south of SF, at the Santa Clara Marriott, with full details to follow on Saturday morning.

Sounds like the seminar will be in the Santa Clara area? Or is there a Marriott in SF that is called "Santa Clara Marriott"?
Either way, I'm there!
We in the South Bay are often over-sensitive about being in SF's shadow. Sure, San Jose is more populous and larger in area, but historically, they've been more important.
The Santa Clara Marriot is right next to the Great America Theme Park.
I hope I can sign up fast enough. Is this expected to sell out in hours or days?
David, I'm going to be sitting at a computer somewhere with credit card in hand at 8:00 Saturday morning. As a follow up to the previous question, if this is expected to be a quick sellout, is that 8am Pacific time, or 8am EST? Please don't make us wake up at 5am on a Saturday.....

Will there still be an LA seminar? I'm wondering if I should make the trek up to the Bay Area, or just wait until the LA one happens. Thanks!
When are you coming to New York City? Please DH! We need you!!
AHH David!!! I am so there except I interviewed as a newspaper Photographer and would be starting on Mondays-Fridays :^(
I guess I'll be waiting for the Saturday/Sunday Seminar....
Anyway, glad to see you on the West Coast!
:^)
Nabity-
Yup, we are in Santa Clara. The location is closer to more of the NoCal readership, as shown by my site metrics.
Nick-
That's 8:00 am Pacific time.
Tim-
I am planning a Phoenix seminar in mid-March, and am trying to swing over to LA that same week. Still in planning stage, tho.
Terrence-
Hoping to get up to NYC in summer.
Christopher-
My calendar, which is of the Gregorial variety, shows 1/19 as being on a Sat. :)
Looks like Christopher forgot to set the year forward when he opened up his PC's calendar and set the month to January. ;)
Really, though, historically-speaking, do these tend to sell out pretty quick? I'd love to make an appearance, but don't know if I'll have the cash that soon.
David,
Sounds very interesting. How big will the class be, and what time will the class start/end? Thanks.
Ah!!! thank you so much for pointing that out!!!!
I'm so there!!!
Thank god I found out about Strobist this month or else I would have been kicking myself if I missed this seminar. I'll be waiting to sign up Saturday morning before I leave for my trip up north. I was planning on leaving at 7:00 A.M. but I think this is worth delaying the trip a little bit.
Sadly, I'm going to be out of town for the weekend, and won't be able to make it.
Do I need to bring any gear?
How nice. You'll actually be 10 minutes away from where I live.
Look forward to meeting you David and other local strobists.
PS -
And what does that mean that registration is open at that time ? Does it mean that I have to wire you the money at that time (if so, which email do I paypal the money) or will there be a link?
Ryuji-
My target size is 50 or less. We check-in, etc, 9a, get cranking at 9:30a, end up around 5p.
Frank-
We will be shooting in the afternoon, in demo mode (shoot diffierent lighting styles and throw stuff up on the DLP) but feel free to bring your own gear if you like. Many people like to shoot the setups for visual notes.
Ivan-
Sorry for the drive. I will try to get it cose next time. As for registration, there will be a PayPal link set up at 8:00a (Pacific time) on Sat and referenced in the post.
/whine on/
Man what a come down. I was really hoping for a day in the city with spectacular views of the bridges, hills and bay, and close access to a multitude of photographic resources.
Instead we get acres of parking lots, with views of a second rate theme park, and a Ritz Camera in the strip mall not too far away.
/whine off/
I'll be there anyway. :-)
David ... Where's the reg link? Do you put it up in the morning? ... Tim
Dan-
Hi David,
I had a few questions:
Is video taping for personal reference allowed?
Is the event indoors only?
I'll be there! ;-)
@Anon-
We will be indoors all day. And as for the "personal-use" videotaping, no, that is not allowed.
I have never been able to trust people to keep the video off of the 'net after that one video leaked out of the seminar we did in the buff last summer in Arkansas.
(Hey, it was over 95 degrees...)
And to be clear, I was wearing a flesh-colored thong. Not that you could tell after the YouTube video compression.
Live and learn.
T Minus one minute.....
Okay just in case something is wrong with my computer I want to know if the registration site has been put up yet since I am anxiously waiting to register so I can get on the road for a graduation 4 hours away. Please keep me in mind for the class in case your registration does not come up in the next 20 min and I miss the sign ups.
It's 9.12am MST (8.12am PST) and I don't see the link yet in the post. Did I miss something?
waw, this thing sold out faster then a Hannah Montana concert
I jumped in as soon as the "Sign Up Now" post appeared, hit the PayPal link and paid, and when I came back to the blog, the SF Signup post was gone...
So, did this thing fill up in three minutes?
It's 8:15 Pacific. I can't find the link??? Yikes! Where is it???
When are you coming to New York City?
