Jerry Vo Takes October -- With a Pair of 'Ebay Remotes'

Congrats to Jerry Vo, whose days of annoying strobe misfires are history. Vo shot his way to a free pair of Pocketwizards for the month of October in the Going Wireless contest by using a pair of what have ironically become known as "poverty wizards."

He'll be able to shoot his next model from 1600 feet away.

If you want a shot at the last set of PW's to be given away, you'd better hustle up. The last day to enter a video (or re-tag an existing video) is November 30th. Chop chop.

More on Vo, including links to more of his work, at the Pocketwizard Blog.

Hansen,

I'm using the same LumoPro LP632 umbrella mount that you can get from MPEX. I got mine on eBay though. I turn it down 90 degrees so I can tilt the flash up to have a vertical-format snooted light.

PS: Big thank you to David and Phil at PocketWizard for setting this contest up!

The City of Toronto has been coming after people using brickworks without a permit. So far i know of 2 people with leans against them for the amount of a city commercial permit.

Have fun while you can, great shoot.

Hey David, I am pleased to see the "on assignment" post. Well done, and well seen. I was thinking about the issue of traveling light and using bare strobes. It occurred to me that using tupperware (fong sphere) on the light on a stick could help spread that key light. I realize that often we think so much about restricting the light that we might miss this option of spreading it.

Tupperware + off camera flash = interesting idea.

as a huge EITS fan, i loved the video before as soon as 'yasmin the light started' but man!

JERRY WAY TO GO!

The canoe and tunnel shots were so cool, you deserve this one. Great use of gels and meshing them with your model, and surroundings.

AGAIN AMAZING JOB!

Painting her face was lame. I don't get that at all. She is a beautiful model why the hell would someone want to put paint on her face.

Hey, great work Jerry. My favorite is the first tunnel shot though. Amazing lighting on that one :)

I just have a quick question, if I understand well, you were using 3 wireless flashes (and not strobes), how did you manage to have light on your subject at all times?
Thanks for the info.

Keep up the good work!
